The 13th annual AfricanAmerican Male Summit (AAMS) will take place Saturday, Jan. 25, from8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kempsville High School and is open to all young VBCPS menin grades six through 12, as well as their parents. The event provides students educational and career opportunitiesincluding access to breakout sessions, college and/or universityrepresentatives, local business owners and more. Parents are invited andencouraged to participate in the Parent Institute breakout sessions to occurconcurrently during student breakout sessions. This year’s keynote is PrincipalBaruti Kafele, a highly regarded urban educator in New Jersey for more than 20years. Student registration is currently open, but the event is first-comefirst-serve and registration is recommended by Monday, Jan. 20. Students mustregister using their vbschools email account to access the registration at http://bit.ly/2020AAMS.Parents may indicate their participation using the student registration form. Ifassistance is needed students should visit their school counselor or male groupsponsor(s) for assistance.
